1904 Invasion of British troops into Tibet (Francis Younghusband – his soldiers killed ~ 500 Tibetan soldiers at Gyantse). The 13th Dalai Lama escaped to Mongolia in 1904/05 when the British troops came. Having returned to Lhasa by the end of 1909, he left Tibet again only two months later to Darjeeling/Kalimpong in 1910.
