Shariputra
Shariputra (Skt.) was one of Buddha’s main disciples. He is well known according to the development of Abhidharma and therefore an important figure within Theravada Buddhism.
He was born to a wealthy family in the ancient Indian kingdom of Magadha. He is said to have been one of Buddha’s chief disciples and was responsible for looking after the monks, assigning them objects of meditation, clarifying points of the teachings and also ordaining them.
