Padampa Sangye


Padampa Sangye was born in the 11th century in India. He was ordained in Vikramashila, one of the most infuential universities at his time.

He traveled to Tibet several times where he, among others, taught the Chöd practice to Machig Labdrön.

He studied topics including Sutra, Grammar, Tantra, and Mahamudra. Padampa Sangye is known to support female practitioners. He practiced at Bodh Gaya, the Swayambunath Stupa, in jungles and in cemeteries.
