Milarepa
Milarepa is considered to be the greatest yogi of all time. He is an example that enlightenment is possible within one lifetime and moreover can be realized through sheer devotion, without studying extensively.
Once, he is said to have stated, “I went to meditate in the mountains to overcome the eight worldly dharmas.”
Those are, hope for gain and fear of loss, hope for pleasure and fear of pain, hope for a good reputation (fame) and fear of a bad reputation (disgrace) as well as hope for praise and fear of blame.
