Ksitigarbha

Ksitigarbha (Skt., lit. “Essence of the Earth”) was one of the Eight Main Disciples
(bodhisattvas) of Buddha Shakyamuni – they are also called the (eight) Children of
Buddha’s Mind. He promised to get reborn again and again in the hell realms until they are
empty.
