Khenchen Sönam Zangpo (Tselminpa)
Khenchen Sönam Zangpo (1341-1433), also known as Tselminpa, was a very talented scholar of the Sakya tradition and was particularly known for being expert in the explanations and practice of the Kalachakra Tantra.
He became the teacher of many of the great masters of the 15th century, such as the Sakya master Rongtönpa and the 6th Karmapa, Tongwa Dönden.
Sönam Zangpo still taught at the age of 92 (the Vimalaprabha commentary on the Kalachakra Tantra). One year later he passed away – sitting in the sevenfold meditation posture of Vairocana. Many auspicious signs arose and relics emerged from his bones after cremation.
