Karma Mipham Tsewang Rabten
Karma Mipham Tsewang Rabten is most likely King Mu Zeng (the Mu-King), who returned to the throne in Lijiang/Yünnan at the age of 36 and devoted himself solely to the Dharma.
His reign must have been around 1610, when the 6th Shamarpa visited his country. This meeting led to the production of the Lijang edition of the Kangyur (also known as “Litang Edition“), that he completed in 1621. As it was the only the second xylograph edition of the Tibetan Tripitaka, the work became very important to the Tibetan Buddhist world.
Yünnan became a Kagyü stronghold because of the 8th Karmapa and played an important role, as the 10th Karmapa used it for his 26 years in exile.
