Guru Rinpoche
Guru Rinpoche (Tib. Pema Jungne, Skt. Padmasambhava, lit. “the Lotus Born”) was a
teacher who brought Buddhism, in particular the Diamond Way transmissions, to Tibet
in the 8th century. He led an exciting life and performed innumerable miracles.
With his termas (hidden teachings) and his prophecies of the tertöns (those who would reveal
them), he is seen as the founder of the Nyingma lineage.
Among his many prophecies, he also gave the names of all the future Karmapas and explained the reason for the Karmapa crises of the 1980s and 1990s.
He is also highly esteemed by the Kagyüs and the Sakyas.
