Drokmi Lotsawa Sakya Yeshe

Drokmi Lotsawa Sakya Yeshe lived in the 11th century – probably from 992-1072.

Drokmi Lotsawa Sakya Yeshe taught Marpa Sanskrit and translated approximately 70 tantric
texts, mainly for the Sakya lineage.
He was one of the primary translators of the Sarma schools, and main teacher of Könchog Gyalpo, the founder of the Sakya lineage.

Drogmi was also one of the first teachers of Marpa Lotsawa and, like him, studied with many Indian masters. In particular, he studied with Naropa and Gayadhara. From the latter, he received transmissions from the lineage of the great Indian mahasiddha Virupa – the Lamdre teachings– which are associated with the Hevajra Tantra.

He then returned to Tibet and taught these teachings, which became the central instructions of the Sakya school.
