Chögyur Lingpa
Chögyur Lingpa (1829-1870) was born in Nangchen. He was taught by several lamas from
his youth on and entered a Drikung Kagyü monastery as a novice.
Chögyur Lingpa became a treasure revealer, a so-called tertön after he had a vision of Guru Rinpoche before he was 13 years old, but he didn’t get accepted by the people of his surrounding in Nangchen. That was the reason of leaving Nangchen for Derge when he was 25 years old.
Chögyur Lingpa had a wife and three children.
In Palpung Monastery he met the 9th Situpa as it was predicted. He presented termas to
him and was introduced to Jamgön Kongtrul and Dabzang Tulku. Both became important
collaborator within the Rimé movement.
Later he was regarded as one of the major tertöns in Tibetan history – with importance for
both the Kagyü- and Nyingma schools.
