9th Situpa Pema Nyinche Wangpo
Before his passing away, the 8th Situpa Chökyi Jungnay indicated that Pawo Rinpoche would recognize his incarnation. Pema Nyinche Wangpo, the 9th Situpa, began his Buddhist education as a child. His teachers included not only the 7th Pawo Rinpoche, who, as predicted, recognized him, but also the 13th Karmapa, the 10th Shamarpa, Mipham Chödrub Gyamtso and other realized masters.
Situpa was known for his generosity – for precious offerings but also for more than 200 treatises that he wrote. However, he spent most of his life in retreat.
His liberal free-minded character was instrumental in starting the Rimé movement, which was later continued by his disciples.
