9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje
Wangchuk Dorje was quickly found by the disciples of his previous incarnation and was officially enthroned as Karmapa at the age of six by Könchok Yenlag, the 5th Shamarpa, who had held the lineage, and who from then on became his root lama (once again in this life).
The 9th Karmapa stood out due to his incomparable linguistic abilities, with which he was able to pass on the individual steps towards and realization of Mahamudra, what became his main focus in teaching his disciples and also generations thereafter in the form of three works.
His best-known book today is “Mahamudra – Ocean of Definitive Meaning”.
By enabling thousands to access the state of the Great Seal, he was honored by the people. He was also regarded as the ruler of Tibet because of his worldly prowess.
