8th Karmapa Mikyö Dorje

Mikyö Dorje revealed himself directly at his birth. Nevertheless, there was another child whose family claimed that he was the reincarnation of the 7th Karmapa. Although this family had a lot of influence, it quickly became clear to everyone who the real Karmapa must be.

The 8th Karmapa was one of the most brilliant philosophers of Tibetan Buddhism and in addition, unmatched in his devotion to his root teacher, Sangye Nyenpa Tashi Paljor.

He developed a guru yoga meditation practice in his lama's honor. We also owe the mantra “Karmapa Chenno” and the Mahakala Puja (which we use in the Diamond Way to invoke our protectors) to the 8th Karmapa.
