5th Situ Chökyi Gyaltsen

The 5th Situ Chökyi Gyaltsen (1560-1632) was enthroned by the 9th Karmapa at the age of 16 in Karma Gön Monastery, where he started his studies under Karmapa’s guidance.

Later at the request of Karmapa he was instrumental in building a new prayer hall at Karma Gön Monastery, filling the building with statues and paintings of Karmapa incarnations, a project that took him nine years to complete.
