4th Situ Chökyi Gocha

The 4th Situ Chökyi Gocha (1542-1585) was recognized and enthroned in Karma Gön
Monastery by the 8th Karmapa. After he got teachings and transmissions from him and
other Kagyü masters, the 8th Karmapa gave him the title, Vajra Holder.

Chökyi Gocha played a major role in the recognition of the 9th Karmapa and also the 6th Shamarpa. The later years of his life he spent in deep meditation.
