4th Shamarpa Chokyi Drakpa Yeshe Pal Zangpo (Chödrag Yeshe)
The 4th Shamarpa, Chokyi Drakpa Yeshe Pal Zangpo or Chödrag Yeshe (1453-1526) was born in the Treshö province of Kham and was recognized by the 7th Karmapa, who also became his root lama.
He is famous for building many monasteries, among others four in Buthan and a small one in Swayambhunath in Nepal. Also the famous Tibetan monastery Ga Mamo Tashi Rabten was founded by him.
Shamar Chokyi Drakpa became (for the period of 11 years) the king of Central Tibet and ruled the country on the basis of Buddhist principles.
